Houston's weather prepares for rain this Easter weekend.
Houston residents should prepare for a weather shift this Easter weekend, with a cold front bringing chances of showers and storms. After 14 dry days, the weather will begin to change on Easter morning with low rain chances, increasing in the afternoon. By Sunday evening, isolated storms may produce quarter-sized hail and gusty winds. Flood advisories are in effect in several counties as daily rain chances remain high through the week. Stay informed and ready for a rainy BBQ or family gathering.
Hey there, Houston! Are you ready for a bit of a weather shake-up this Easter weekend? Well, get those umbrellas out because it looks like we’re in for a change! After a rather dry spell of 14 days without any measurable rain, Mother Nature is planning to knock on our doors once again.
For the early bird Easter enthusiasts, the good news is that rain chances are pretty low in the morning. From around 6 a.m. to noon, you can expect only about a 20% chance of a sprinkle or two. Temperatures will be sitting comfortably in the low to mid-70s, perfect for any Easter egg hunting plans you might have.
As the afternoon rolls in, we start to see a little more action on the weather front. The chance of rain creeps up to about 30-40% with temperatures soaring into the mid-80s. So, while you’re enjoying your Easter barbecue or family gathering, don’t be surprised if some raindrops join the party!
Now, hold onto your hats! The real show starts Sunday evening as a spring cold front creeps in from the west. This is where the rain chances really kick up, and we could be looking at some isolated storms that might give us a bit of a thrill with quarter-sized hail and damaging winds. But don’t worry too much; most storms are expected to stay below severe levels.
So, what’s to come? By the time we hit Monday morning, total rain in Houston is expected to be around half an inch. Areas just north of the city, like Huntsville and Lufkin, could see a bit more, anywhere from 0.75 to 1.5 inches of rain. Make sure to keep your rain boots handy if you’re in those areas!
If you thought the rain was going to take a break after Easter, think again! A wetter weather pattern is rolling in, and we’re looking at a series of days with daily rain chances ranging from 30-60% from Tuesday through Friday. Morning temperatures will stay cozy in the low 70s, while afternoon highs venture into the low to mid-80s.
In anticipation of these storms, a Flood Advisory has already been issued for several areas including Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, Aldine, Atascocita, and Humble counties, lasting until 9 a.m. the following day. This could lead to some tricky street conditions, so please be cautious if you’re out and about.
Mark your calendars! Wednesday looks to be the day with the most widespread showers and storms. This is where we might face some street flooding due to the hefty rainfall expected. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any wetter, the forecast warns we could experience the occasional severe storm complete with gusty winds and small hail.
So, don’t let the weather dampen your Easter spirit! Whether you’re hunting eggs in the morning sunshine or hunkering down for a storm in the evening, Houston’s weather always brings something interesting to the mix!
